The Design of 1 oz silver eagle

Despite maintaining the same obverse side, the US Mint updated the reverse side.

The celebration of the 35th anniversary of the series brought a new depiction of the bald eagle on the reverse side. Emily Damstra’s image showcases a more natural Eagle, perching on a branch with open wings. The inscriptions encircling the picture are: “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “ONE DOLLAR. 1 OZ. FINE SILVER”, referring to the coin’s denomination, weight, and metal content. “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” the motto engraved on this side, is above the weight indication.

The obverse traditionally features the Walking Liberty, designed initially to stamp the Half-Dollar coin in 1917 by Adolph A. Weinman. Lady Liberty has the American flag draped on her shoulder as she walks toward the sun. She carries olive and oak branches with one arm, and with the other, she welcomes new habitants to the nation. “LIBERTY” arches over the image, while the year of mintage lies on the bottom rim, and the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST” is beside her.
